Kite Risers - Super Soaring
$ 370.00
These Kite Risers are a different way to change the angle of attack of your wing, just like you do with trimmers or a throttle, but the difference is that you adjust it instantly with your arms and without being able to pull the brakes – only when the angle of attack is low.
In effect, the brakes move with AB and C in a pattern defined by the number and location of the pulleys.
In our system, A being static, B moves 1/3 of the travel of C which moves 1/3 of the brake travel.
The total travel will be adjustable by a small stop ball that you can lock using an Allen key along the stroke of pulley C.
As you can imagine, a 10m2 and a 25m2 do not have the same rope so the impact on the angle of attack (called AOA in the rest of this explanation) will be more significant on a small rope with the same amount of “high arms”.
These Kite Risers are compatible with the list of Little Cloud wings which you can find on our internet page.
Reflex, or not Reflex? That is the question.
In the minds of many pilots, this system can only work with reflex profiles because that is what they have heard from other brands.
Luckily for us, marketing isn't always the truth .
Just like with trimmers and throttle, you can adjust the AOA of your wing with this system!
Reflex Profile: Reflex is a qualification for a profile which tends to increase its AOA when left “free” (positive Cm).
This is useful when you reduce your AOA a lot in order to avoid negative incidence (which you can get anyway if you encounter strong turbulence) and thus reduce the possibility of closure.
The reflex effect is not a binary data, it is an intrinsic characteristic of the aerodynamic profile depending on many factors in its design (lower surface/upper surface/camber/Moment shape, etc.).
Under no circumstances are these profiles 100% lockable . They will all close at some point, often without warning, usually with low AOA , and with pretty poor recovery behavior most of the time (watch paramotor crash videos on YouTube or whatever).
The stronger the reflex effect, the worse the efficiency and performance (the mania too)!
The advantage is that you can use them with a lower AOA , therefore flying faster than with a classic profile.
My over 20 years of experience designing box kites has taught me that there are other ways to achieve stability (always up to a certain point of course)!
Internal pressure, positions of the attachment tabs, canopy tensions, micro deformations of the canopy in certain circumstances, etc.
And you know what, since day one, I have worked to make the LC wings as stable in pitch as possible, without using a high reflex profile .
In our opinion, blindly relying on the behavior of your wing is a very inappropriate way to approach flight safety.
By essence, turbulence is invisible, moving, its intensity cannot be appreciated in advance. Of course, you can imagine it... But who has never been surprised by a closure...
Active piloting is therefore a fundamental and logical requirement for safety (whatever the flight discipline), especially when flying accelerated close to the ground!
It is therefore important to have good feedback from your wing to understand the air mass and react (prevent collapse from occurring) if necessary.
Compared to our competitors in this discipline, we can use a smaller size... our high range will be less but our low range will be much better.
It's more fun , because the wing is more responsive, faster, and also much easier to handle in the wind!
Ultimately, the wind ranges are quite similar, just shifted downward.
These Kiterisers are designed for soaring , not for Speedflying/Speedriding (i.e. flying downhill close to the ground, at full speed) nor for acrobatics, nor for Paramotoring!
They are not recommended for pilots without Minisail flying experience .
Be aware that mountain flying can be turbulent . If you know your spot and there is no turbulence, no problem!
We recommend that you do not use it in thermal conditions .
Avoid turbulent air .
Respect the weight range of the wings.
This piloting system changes neither the rules of flight mechanics nor the actions of Earth's gravity!
Active piloting is essential to avoid collapse, because no aerodynamic profile is indestructible and no pilot should rely on the collapse resistance of their wing to push the limits of physics.
You must practice on the ground before flying until you are 100% familiar with this new system.
You must strictly follow LittleCloud's recommendations on model compatibility and brake and travel limiter settings.
Any flight outside this envelope is strictly the responsibility of the pilot and in no case can LittleCloud/DLCO be held liable.
